WHAT IS VOLLEYBLAZE?

Our event is a Volleyball tournament searching to bring sports fans together. Our job is to ensure everyone's enjoyment by making our visuals captivating. With the help of pur sponsors, we were able to bring a wide audience to watch the tournament!

OUR STRATEGIC THINKING

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet consectetur, adipisicing elit. Quidem, cumque laboriosam? Culpa qui quos unde reprehenderit amet eaque eum ipsam voluptatibus optio maiores, fugiat atque laborum placeat necessitatibus? Dolorum, delectus!

OUR VISUAL ELEMENTS

Our creative idea was associated with fire. It could be associated with the burning passion of our players, or the fierce energy coming from our spectators. Our goal with the visuals was to symbolize energy, movement and excitement.

OUR EMERGING TECH COMPONENT

We decided to make a projection mapping to showcase our motion graphics on animated posters. This allowed for the event to feel alive and energetic.

OUR CAPYSKILLS REFLECTION

RYAN

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe I am around level 4 since of this Capyskill since I am capable of respecting the perspective of my team, contributing to them, and focus on the task. However, because I can be quite shy and anxious around others, I tend to keep things for myself and will only speak if being asked too or if I have feel confident.

AFTER

After Capython, I felt like I did made some progress in improving my communication skills but I still believe I could've done better to improve. However, I did manage to adapt to my new environment social-wise since I am quite adaptable to adjust if given some time.

XANDER

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe I am at a level 4 in this skill. The reasoning behind it is because even though I can contribute and get along well with my teammates, I cannot immediately choose my role in the projects, as the given choices may take time for me to fully choose and I also have to take into account what I will need to do during said role. For instance, on the day of our team choosing our role, I decided on the role that I believe that I can do which is the Video Footage role. Despite the fact that I can also do graphics, I decided to do Video not only because I think I can contribute in the role, but also to help my friend who is also in the same role.

AFTER

After this week of Capython, I still think I'm at a level 4. Mainly because I don't believe this week can justify me going any higher or lower.

LIANNE

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe that my current level is at 4 in collaboration. Im able to stay focused on my part of the work. I do have a hard time when asking for help from my team when needed because im quite shy. I do listen when my teammates suggestions of my work. If I were to get out of my comfort zone and be able to talk to me team, I would be at level 6. But, during this project I was unsure what to do in the beginning because of the lack of communication. If I work on my confidence a little more, Im sure I can get to level 6 and improve further on in my collaboration.

AFTER

YANRONG

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe I am at Level 4. I can reliably complete the tasks assigned to me by my group. I am also good at listening to my teammates' suggestions and opinions. However, I am not able to independently choose what tasks I should take on. In addition, I am not very good at communicating with my teammates. Therefore, I think I cannot reach Level 6.

AFTER

SHEILA

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I chose this CapySkill because it pushes me to improve my communication skills, as I am shy when working with new people. In this skill, I am at level 5 because I interact with my teammates. For example, I let them know what I'm currently doing, ask them what they're doing and if they need any help. However, I'm not as consistent as I'd like to be because sometimes I work on my part of the project for 1-2 hours without communicating with my teammates or checking in with them.

AFTER

After a week, I progressed to level 8 because I communicated with my team and took their opinions and suggestions about my work into account. As for cooperating consistently with my team, I think that by the middle of the week, I started to get more involved with my teammates, while suggesting simpler methods for accomplishing certain tasks, thanks to what I had learned previously.

WILLIAM

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe I'm a level 6, because I can properly communicate with my team and help them. I'm able to pick the task and be able to ask for feedback and make sure that I'm doing a good job.

AFTER

After the week of Capython I believe that I'm a level 7 because I was able to help others with their work and listen to their point of view on what they like or dislike or what they want to do and find a middle ground that we all like. I was able to stay consistent with speaking with my team.

POLINA

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I believe I am a level 8 because I normally am the one initiating conversation and assigning people's roles. I always know what needs to be done and how I contribute to the team. I regularly check-in with my teammates, though I do forget sometimes when I am fully emerged in my work. I listen to peoples suggestions/feedback and apply it in our project.

AFTER

NICOLAS

NGE.3.1 Interact and participate effectively with others

BEFORE

I consider myself to currently be at level 6. This is because while I do actively participate in team discussions and cooperate with my team members I do not do it consistently. As Barry said when the event began, the key to a successful agency project is communication. I'll track myself throughout the event to try and actively be more present within the team as opposed to isolating myself from others and doing my tasks

AFTER

Throughout the Capython week, I made a greater effort to communicate with my team. While I definitely believe I can still improve my level, I can confidently say that I went up to level 7. I communicated with my teammates in person and through messages a lot more during the second half of the event, I still struggled to go out of my comfort zone and prioritize verbal communication in person. That is why I only went up one level and have yet to reach the next official competency level which is 8.
